These rules govern the JSD Detailing Experience Competition. The competition is judged on merit and is administered as a promotional competition under section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 and regulation 11.

1. Promoter and competition period

1.1  The promoter is Erik Buitendagh, a sole proprietor trading as Jet Shine Detailing (JSD). Contact: B 34, Kungwini Manor, Bronkhorstbaai, Kungwini Country Estate, Bronkhorstspruit, 1020 | [email protected] | 081 058 6830.

1.2  The competition opens at 12:00 on 21 October 2026 and closes at 12:00 on 21 December 2026. Entries received after closing will not be considered.

1.3  These rules will be available free of charge here on JSD’s website before the competition opens and throughout the competition.

2. Who may enter

2.1  You may enter if you are 18 years or older, are a South African citizen or lawfully resident in South Africa, and own the vehicle entered or have the owner’s permission to enter it and allow JSD to work on it.

2.2  The following may not enter or receive the prize: JSD’s directors, members, employees, agents or consultants; the judges; any person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by JSD; suppliers of goods or services in connection with the competition; and the spouse, life partner, business partner or immediate family member of any of those persons.

2.3  Entry is free and no purchase is required.

3. How to enter

3.1  Complete and submit the online entry form during the competition period, including the requested vehicle details, a short description of its condition and the required photographs.

3.2  Each entry may relate to one vehicle only. You may enter more than one vehicle, up to a maximum of seven, but a separate complete entry is required for each. The same vehicle may not be entered more than once.

3.3  JSD may collect the vehicle registration number privately to identify duplicate entries and verify the winning vehicle. It will not be published or used for marketing.

3.4  Do not upload identity documents, license discs, vehicle registration papers, photographs unnecessarily showing other people or any business signage (except if it is on the vehicle itself). Number plates should be obscured in uploaded photographs where reasonably possible.

3.5  You must accept these rules and acknowledge JSD’s Privacy Policy. Marketing consent is separate and optional.

4. The prize

4.1  One winning vehicle will receive JSD vehicle detailing services to a maximum retail value of R5,000.00.

4.2  After inspecting the winning vehicle, JSD will confirm in writing the suitable services to be performed. JSD will apply as much of the R5,000 maximum value as can reasonably and safely be used on suitable detailing services for that vehicle and will not withhold value merely to reduce its cost.

4.3  The prize may include deep exterior cleaning and decontamination, paint or surface correction where suitable, protection products, wheel/tyre/trim treatment, glass cleaning, and interior cleaning and conditioning. It excludes mechanical work, panel beating, spray painting, dent removal, glass replacement, upholstery repair or replacement, replacement parts and any work JSD reasonably considers unsafe or likely to damage the vehicle.

4.4  The prize cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. No unused balance is payable. Additional work is quoted separately and is entirely optional.

5. How the winner is selected

5.1  This is a judged, merit-based competition. It is not a random draw, and no winner or tie-break will be selected by lot or chance.

5.2  Every valid entry will be considered by three judges. They will select the vehicle offering the strongest detailing transformation opportunity, considering: its current condition and appearance; the likely visibility and significance of the before-and-after improvement; its suitability for JSD’s detailing services; and whether the photographs and description provide enough information to assess it.

5.3  The entrant’s personal circumstances and the monetary value of the vehicle are not judging criteria.

5.4  If entries are materially equal, the judges will select the vehicle expected to show the clearest overall before-and-after transformation. No random tie-break will be used.

5.5  The judging panel will consist of three judges. The judges’ decision on the merits is final, subject to applicable law.

6. Independent oversight

6.1  The conduct of the competition will be overseen and certified by an independent legal auditor appointed by JSD in accordance with regulation 11(5).

6.2  JSD will retain the certificate with the competition records.

7. Winner notification and verification

7.1  Judging will be completed by 28 December 2026. JSD will contact the selected entrant by 30 December 2026 and publish the verified result on the competition web page and JSD’s Facebook page by 8 January 2027.

7.2  Before the prize is awarded, JSD may require proof of identity and age, proof of ownership or the owner’s permission, and the information and signed acknowledgement required for JSD’s statutory competition records.

7.3  If the selected entrant cannot reasonably be contacted, does not respond within seven days, does not qualify or materially misrepresented the entry, JSD may select the next-best eligible entry using the same judging criteria.

8. Vehicle delivery and pre-work condition

8.1  The entrant must select either Workshop Service or Mobile Service on the entry form.

8.2  Workshop Service: the winning vehicle must be delivered to and collected from JSD in Bronkhorstspruit unless JSD and the winner agree otherwise in writing. The winner is responsible for those transport arrangements and costs.

8.3  Mobile Service is available only within the City of Tshwane, City of Johannesburg and City of Ekurhuleni metropolitan areas. The entrant must identify the relevant metro, town or city and suburb on the entry form.

8.4  For Mobile Service, JSD’s reasonable travel costs to and from the nominated location form part of the R5,000 prize value. JSD will calculate and disclose the travel component to the winner before the service is scheduled, and the balance of the prize value will be applied to detailing services. No separate payment is required to receive the prize.

8.5  A Mobile Service location must provide a suitable enclosed or substantially protected workspace of approximately 4 m × 6 m or larger, with sufficient safe working space around the vehicle and reliable access to running water and electricity. The three judges may consider the suitability of the nominated facilities when assessing a Mobile Service entry.

8.6  JSD may refuse to commence, pause or discontinue Mobile Service if the site is unsafe or unsuitable, or if required water, electricity, access or facilities are unavailable. JSD is not responsible for delay caused by those circumstances. If the problem cannot reasonably be resolved, JSD and the winner will arrange another suitable location or completion at JSD’s workshop.

8.7  Before work begins, JSD and the winner will inspect the vehicle and record visible pre-existing damage or defects, supported by photographs. The winner will acknowledge the condition record and receive a copy.

8.8  JSD is not responsible for loss, damage, contamination or delay caused by circumstances outside JSD’s reasonable control at a Mobile Service location, including failure of utilities, structural failure, fire, severe weather, falling objects or theft by third parties, except to the extent that the loss or damage was caused or contributed to by JSD’s negligence or other conduct for which JSD is legally responsible.

8.9  If a proposed service cannot safely be performed, JSD will explain why and substitute another suitable service within the prize scope where reasonably possible. JSD will take reasonable care of the vehicle while it is in its possession or control and remains responsible in accordance with applicable law for loss or damage caused by JSD or persons for whom JSD is legally responsible.

8.10 The winner must redeem and complete the detailing services forming part of the prize within three (3) months after accepting the prize, unless JSD agrees otherwise in writing. If the winner fails to do so within this period, the prize will lapse.

9. Photographs and promotion

9.1  You retain ownership of photographs submitted with your entry and permit JSD to use them internally to administer and judge the competition, verify entries and deal with related complaints or disputes.

9.2  JSD will not publish or use photographs from a non-winning entry for advertising or social media unless the entrant separately agrees.

9.3  JSD may photograph or film the winning vehicle for condition-record and service purposes. JSD will obtain separate consent before using the winner’s name, image, testimonial or identifiable promotional material for advertising or social media. Declining promotional participation does not affect the prize.

10. Personal information and marketing

10.1  JSD processes personal information in accordance with POPIA and its Privacy Policy.

10.2  Entry information may be used to administer and judge the competition, identify duplicate entries, verify and contact the winner, arrange the prize, deal with queries or disputes and meet legal record-keeping obligations.

10.3  Entering does not sign you up for electronic direct marketing. If you separately consent to marketing, you may withdraw that consent or unsubscribe at any time.

11. Disqualification and changes

11.1  JSD may reasonably disqualify an entry if the entrant is ineligible, materially falsifies information, submits a duplicate vehicle entry, interferes with the entry or judging process, or submits unlawful or clearly inappropriate material.

11.2  JSD may change, suspend, postpone or cancel the competition only where circumstances outside its reasonable control or a legal requirement make this necessary. Any material change will be communicated appropriately and will not unfairly remove a right already acquired.

12. Competition records

12.1  JSD will keep the records required by regulation 11(6) for at least three years after the competition ends. This includes the competition rules and marketing records, details of the persons conducting and judging the competition, the basis and proceedings for selecting the winner, the winner’s prescribed acknowledgement and identity information, the independent certificate and the other records specified in regulation 11(6). This does not require JSD to retain every unsuccessful entrant’s full entry and vehicle photographs for three years merely because they entered the competition.

13.2  Nothing in these rules excludes or limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
